Full-spectrum CBD Oil vs. CBD Isolate

Before purchasing CBD products for the first time, many buyers are unsure which product is right for them. There are now many CBD products on the market, which differ significantly in many ways.

In addition to the origin, the manufacturing process, and the price, the CBD content and other ingredients in cannabis are also important. Studies suggest that CBD in isolation could be by far the most potent cannabinoid, but only if properly dosed! However, its effects are said to be increased when it is taken with other cannabinoids. Nevertheless, one should not confuse CBD oil with hemp oil.

CBD isolate

As the name suggests, a CBD isolate is pure CBD. A CBD isolate can be extracted from the hemp plant or manufactured artificially in the laboratory.

Some drugs have synthetic CBD as an active ingredient. However, most users prefer a natural product to a chemical or chemically processed product. As already mentioned, CBD is probably the most potent cannabinoid in the hemp plant.

Here is an overview of the suspected effects of CBD:

  • Antibacterial
  • Is supposed to prevent cancer cells from growing
  • Neuroprotective
  • Should support bone growth
  • Is said to reduce blood sugar levels
  • Should boost the function of the immune system
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Pain reliever
  • Should help with anxiety
  • Against nausea and vomiting
  • Should have a calming effect

With this long list, CBD almost seems like a miracle cure. It is said to interact with the body’s own endocannabinoid system, which has receptors in many of the body’s critical systems. The mode of action can thus be scientifically proven.

However, according to a study by The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the effects of a CBD isolate take the form of a bell curve. Accordingly, a higher dose of CBD could inhibit the effect again, which would only allow a small window with regard to the dosage where a therapeutic effect could be determined.

Therefore, it would be advisable to use a full spectrum product to benefit from all the health benefits and not to inhibit the effect of the CBD by either too low or too high a dosage.

What advantages should other ingredients have in a natural full-spectrum product?

Full-spectrum products contain various cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, leading to the so-called “entourage effect.” This effect means that the substances from hemp interact with one another so that their respective impacts are intensified.

For example, recent studies suggest that the body could absorb twice as much CBD in the presence of CBDa (cannabidiolic acid, a precursor to CBD). For a product with a CBD isolate, the CBD absorption in the body would only be half as good as a full-spectrum product. In addition to CBD, the more than 100 other cannabinoids in full-spectrum products include CBDa, CBG and CBGa, and CBC and CBCa.

It is also said to have anti-inflammatory effects. The benefits of the other cannabinoids listed are said to include the following possible effects: anti-inflammatory (CBC), anti-fungal effects (CBCa), better sleep (CBG), and pain relief (CBGa). Even with a high dose of CBD, its impact should not be weakened in a full-spectrum product.
